Project Summary
The Blue Sky Solar Project is a proposed solar facility to be located on privately owned land about 2 miles northeast of the village of Dwight in Grundy County, Illinois. The Project will produce energy using ground-mounted photovoltaic solar panels. The generating capacity is 300 MWac, the equivalent of powering approximately 65,000 Illinois homes every year. Solar energy is a clean, reliable energy source. The power from the Project will be delivered into the local electrical grid, helping to diversify the regional energy portfolio. Solar electricity generated at the facility will not produce greenhouse gas or other dangerous air pollutants. The Project will make a significant contribution toward Illinois’ 2025 renewable energy goals and provide local economic benefits through construction-related jobs and property tax payments.
